The Mazda CX-5 crossover has been a huge success here at Tom Dolan's Reno Mazda. There's no denying that. Now, because of all its successes, we could be seeing a new utility vehicle joining the CX-5 in the near future: the Mazda CX-3.

According to Auto Express, this new crossover is slated to be a bit smaller than the CX-5, and will take on the likes of the Juke in the compact CUV market. The focus of the Mazda CX-3 is to give drivers just enough utility, while also maintaining a fuel-efficient vehicle that is also fun to drive.

Word is that the new CX-3 will sport a small-displacement 1.6-liter diesel engine along with a gas-powered 1.3-liter when it makes its debut in 2014.

As for what the vehicle will look like? Well, if we had to venture a guess, it would have many of the same characteristics of the Mazda CX-5, just on a smaller scale.

Of course, we'll be sure to follow these exciting new developments here on the Tom Dolan's Reno Mazda blog, and keep you up to date with the latest news surrounding our favorite automaker.
