When looking at the new Mazda lineup, it becomes quite apparent that a lot of attention to detail is applied to each and every design feature. Mazda refers to its design approach as "KODO" which means the "Soul of Motion." This gives each model the appearance of being in motion even while sitting stationary. Little did we know, this style approach can be applied to furniture as well!

Drawing inspiration from the fluid movements of wild animals, Mazda used this design language to create the KODO chair. With a slanted back and sloped legs for a base, it appears like an animal that is tensing up and preparing to pounce on its prey. This unique, modernized piece of furniture was created for Italy's Milan Design Week. This gives automakers the opportunity to try their hand at crafting something other than a car.

Joining the chair in the Mazda Con-Temporary Space (MACS) located in the Zone Tortona District of Milan, was the 2014 Mazda6, which also sports the unique KODO design language. In an area that is known for fashion and designs that step outside the box, this display really fit right in.

The KODO chair may just have been a one-time creation for the automaker, but if it were to continue down the path of furniture design, Mazda would certainly provide some innovative style to interior decorating around the world.
