The May sales results are in, and for Mazda it's a true sign that sales are definitely picking up momentum this year. It experienced a 19 percent sales increase and was able to surpass its goal to sell 300,000 units within the U.S. This positive increase speaks to the fact that customers in the greater Reno, NV area and beyond are taking notice of the advanced technologies and innovations being added to the new Mazda lineup.

Another factor that comes into play with the brand's success is the determination of CEO of Mazda North American Operations, Jim O'Sullivan. He reunited with Russell Wagner, an ad agency executive, to revitalize the ad campaign which helped to boost the popularity of the Mazda6. In fact, there was a 72 percent increase in its sales with 3,944 vehicles sold.

The Mazda CX-5 compact crossover showed a strong performance as well with an impressive 79 percent boost in sales. These two models, along with others that are equipped with efficiency boosting SKYACTIV technology, were responsible for about three-quarters of Mazda's May sales.

After investing resources and time in developing the SKYACTIV portfolio and lightweight platforms, it is exciting to see all of the automaker's hard work pay off. It can now offer vehicles that offer the perfect combination of style, performance and efficiency.
