Although the Mazda brand is based in Japan, many of the models we offer are designed and built right here in North America. The automaker recently established a new plant based in Salamanca, Mexico and just kicked off production there.
The first model on the Mazda de Mexico Vehicle Operation (MMVO) facility's plate? It's the 2014 Mazda3 sedan.
So what does the ramp in production mean for our dealership in Reno, NV and our customers?
"With the start of mass production, we now have a system capable of offering vehicles of the same high quality as those made in Japan, on a global scale, and that is extremely gratifying," said Keishi Egawa, the President and CEO of Mazda Manufacturing de Mexico, S.A. de C.V.1
The Mazda3 models constructed at the new Mexico plant will be transported over the border to be sold at American dealers, including Dolan Mazda.
The plant will soon grow its products to include the new Mazda2, with an anticipated annual total of 230,000 units.
Upon the Mazda3 vehicles' arrival to our dealership, we'll get to enjoy a well-crafted standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which delivers 155 horsepower. This is paired with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic.
Its finely-tuned underpinnings result in unrivaled agility, a refined ride, and responsive acceleration. Needless to say, our Mazda fans will be pleased with the model.
We're excited to hear Mazda's new manufacturing facility is well underway to producing the high-quality lineup we know and love. We're also thrilled to welcome the plant's starring creation: the 2014 Mazda3. Stop by our dealership to see -- and test drive-- the product.
