The Mazda CX-5 has a SKYACTIVE®¹-G 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine Cylinder Deactivation, enabling 187 horsepower. Similarly, the Toyota RAV4 is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC 16-Vavle engine with Dual VVT-I 176 horsepower. Even with near identical engines, the CX-5 delivers slightly more power.

Similarly, the Mazda CX-5 also has a slight edge over the Toyota RAV4 in fuel economy.

When it comes to advanced technology, the Mazda SKYACTIV® technology system improves the driving experience by being incorporated in the body and chassis for an optimal ride. Featuring G-Vectoring Control, the technology can adjust power and delivery by shifting the weight balance of the vehicle when turning.

The Toyota RAV4 comes with its own technological system with the Entune™ Audio 6.1-inch touch-screen display, and ECO and Sport Modes.

The CX-5 and the RAV4 are similarly priced vehicles, but the Mazda simply edges it out in performance, safety features, efficiency, and offers a smoother driving experience. The Mazda CX-5 comes in three available trims:
